OUR THREESOME WITH THE DISEASE

Andréanne and I met in primary school when we were eight years old. We were neighbours and friends, and our mothers were also childhood friends. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been in love with Andréanne, this beautiful, great woman so discreet and thoughtful. I was always told that opposites come together and luckily for me it’s true! As we grew older, our paths became as one… it was the start of a beautiful love story.

Despite our young age, Andréanne and I went through a lot of experiences that have made our couple even stronger. During our five years together and our 15 years of friendship, I got to know three different Andréanne. First, the shy Andréanne who was healthy; second, the sick Andréanne who was exhausted, and third, the Andréanne who is healthy and wants to make a difference in the lives of women who went or are going through a similar experience. I have been in love with the three Andréanne I have known, probably because she always had the same look in her eyes, and that little something that attracted me. Besides, who could resist her?

The disease entered our lives like a bulldozer flattening a house. At that time, it was hard for me to hide my anxious temperament, as the love of my life was becoming more and more emaciated, livid and weaker day by day. Since I’m a workaholic, I started working even more… probably to clear my head and forget my concerns.

Our couple had reached a point where we could no longer control or decide which activities we wanted to do. It was as if there was someone else with us who was deciding everything for us: Could we go to the restaurant, to the movies, take a walk outside, and even make love. The disease had become a real person who was constantly restraining our choices. it was hard to plan activities or trips, as we never knew when Andréanne would suffer from an attack. We were living in a constant threesome!

A year after Andréanne’s diagnosis, and our unpleasant threesome, I finally realized that the love of my life’s health was deteriorating rapidly. It’s sometimes very difficult to notice when you’re always with the same person, as physical changes are not easy to see. My mother, an accomplished nurse of over 20 years of experience, would always tell me that if nothing was done, Andréanne might die.

We then started the process to get out of this threesome so that Andréanne could live normally and that we could become two young, 18 years old lovers again.
